It was only their first album I actually like

It was really the bassist from the first album that I like

He helped write most of the album you know

The other privileged fucks in the band let him go

That’s why I liked the Kooks because I connected with the bassist

He was striving to know what love was and it showed

He got let go

Because the cocaine started to show

But it would have with me too

If I had to hang with those fucking kooks 

Traveling the world

Playing to fools

And not being able to be with you. 

I tried to tell you, but I ended up just telling you I like the kooks

Maybe you didn’t like them.

Actually it was probably nothing to do with that, probably just me being a fool.

Their first album still sits with me, and so do you, so do you.
